Huacaya Alpacas

Healey's last two crias came from herdsire Crescent Moon's Daytona. Their first cria, Midas, is an extremely handsome high quality true black, and is now a junior herdsire at Shadow Ranch Alpacas. Their second cria is a beautiful deep brown, very friendly daughter. Healey is a wonderful mother with ample milk. Take a look at Healey's fleece pic and you can see the glow. The yarn we had made from her fleece is heavenly. It has such a silky feel and beautiful appeal. This is partly due also to her extreme fineness. Given Healey's genetics, she is likely to keep this fineness throughout her life and pass it on to all her offspring. On top of that, she has sound, well balanced conformation with correct proportions and bite. Healey's full siblings will give you an idea of the quality and exciting color this girl has the potential to produce. Her brother, Dasher, is a color champion for his brown fleece with 15/15 for brightness. Her sister, Tigra, is dark rose grey and holding her fineness in the low 20s. And finally Lotus, also a top award winner for her fleece, is holding her fineness into adulthood as well. They all exhibit their sire's trait of exceptional fleece length, which has put him in the top 1% in EPDs. Healey's sire, Spanish Peaks Banderas, was a multi-champion modern dark rose grey and has produced several champions in a variety of colors. Most notably, his son, Sweet Pines Torino, won 5 championships including brown color champion for his fleece at the AOBA national show. Healey can be bred to one our herdsires at half his usual stud fee.

Manzanita is a daughter of multi-champion true black herdsire, Crescent Moon's Daytona. She has a beautiful look and buttery soft, uniform fleece. Her correct, sound conformation is lovely. What's more, she is curious and personable, just like her dam. This girl has proven to produce high quality offspring. Manzanita's sire, Crescent Moon's Daytona, has done extremely well in the big competitive shows due to his impeccable conformation and extremely uniform and dense fleece. His genetics are packed with elite Peruvian bloodlines. He has performed well as a stud, producing dark colors even when the dam is light. Dam, Sweet Pines Azera, was a sweetheart with excellent conformation, consistently producing high quality offspring. She is out of a true black champion stud as well. With so much color and quality in Manzanita's background, she is bound to produce dark rich, beautiful cria. Manzanita's 2019 cria is a bay black male, Renegade, out of multi-champion Spanish Peaks Banderas. Manzanita's 2021 cria is also out of Spanish Peaks Banderas. He is a dark brown male, Spyker, with frosted ears, healthy and vigorous. Born 6/24/21. What a handsome guy! So much fiber with excellent coverage head to toe. His fleece is dense and uniform and extremely fine. We would highly recommend a breeding to Infinitos Desoto for Manzanita. Desoto is a champion black herdsire who will be standing stud here at Sweet Pines Alpacas this summer.

Pantara is a stunning true black daughter of multi-champion true black herdsire, Crescent Moon's Daytona. She has a beautiful look and soft, very uniform, dense fleece. This girl has years ahead of her of producing high quality offspring with an appealing look and likely wonderful personality! Pantara's sire, Crescent Moon's Daytona, did extremely well in the big competitive shows due to his impeccable conformation and dense, bright, uniform fleece. His genetics are packed with elite Peruvian bloodlines and depth in color. As our daughter's top herdsire, he produced dark colors even when the dam is light. His offspring are winning top awards in the shows including AOA National Champion black fleece (see Daytona's Nocino). Daytona threw amazing density and uniformity while maintaining a fine, silky, soft handle. Pantara's dam, Sweet Pines Rally, is one of our favorite foundation girls, carrying genetics that we started out with 20 years ago. She produces such lovely offspring with fleeces that we can't wait to put into production. One of those, a half brother to Pantara, is Sweet Pines Maserati. Pantara has a son out of herdsire Colter. Colter has been dependably producing dense offspring that hold their fineness and length year after year. Pantara's very healthy, full of energy son is wonderfully put together with a solid and large-boned conformation. He is deep chocolatey brown in color with such a beautiful silky fleece. Pantara is now a proud mama of a female cria, Sweet Pines Artega, from champion stud Infinitos Desoto, a very dark roan/black herdsire, who has impressed the judges with his across-blanket uniformity and stunning conformation. Desoto won a reserve champion in a black class in his last, extremely competitive show.

Cloud soft, Siata comes from extreme fineness and exhibits that in her first fleece. It is also very bright with beautiful alignment, minimal guard hair, and a lovely crimp. Siata's genetics tells us she will hold fineness and brightness well into adulthood. Siata's sire, Rubio's Winter Rocky, is a top award winner in both halter and fleece shows. In our herd he has proven to be a reasonable leader of other studs in his group. We absolutely love his personality for that reason and the fact that he is easy to handle. He passes this 'sensibility' to his offspring, along with his well-balanced conformation and lasting fineness. Siata's dam, Sweet Pines Matadora, is replacing her dam as an excellent foundation female. She will be relied upon to produce beautiful white offspring with wonderful brightness, length, and fineness. The fineness comes from both her dam's and her sire's lines, giving her outstanding EPDs. It is here to last! On top of that, she is a great mother with ample milk. We would expect nothing less from Siata! While we were expecting white with this breeding, Siata could also be used in a color breeding program given her genetics. Take a look at the grey on her sire's side and note that her maternal grandsire also produced grey! In 2024, Siata produced a cria out of our very dense and handsome herdsire, Sweet Pines Mustang. The fiber coverage, fineness, and uniformity on this guy are exceptional. And we are impressed with all of his offspring so far! Siata's little girl is just as impressive - silky, beautifully conformed, full of personality! The brightness on her fleece is quite exceptional.

Sweet Pines Truly Elite (Ellie) is one of our best producers. Her genetics shine through in offspring with extreme fineness and staple uniformity which equates to a wonderful silky soft handling fleece - and the length is incredible too! Ellie is also one of our friendliest alpacas, making her a nice PR alpaca, which she often passes on to her cria. All of her offspring have that attractive teddy bear head as well. Ellie's sire is Snowmass Truly Invincible, a light brown handsome stud with extreme uniformity. The small spot on Ellie's hip is his color. These elite Snowmass genetics contribute to Ellie's Top 1% status in three different EPD categories - AFD, %>30, and MSL. This kind of uniformity and length is just exactly what we are all looking for. Ellie's dam, Sweet Pines Springs, comes from extreme fineness as well, and has been an absolutely wonderful mama. She is retired now, but still going strong at almost 18 yrs old. She produced many award-winning offspring for us. We were lucky to have such a dependable producer in our herd.

A lovely, retired dam, Rally has produced some of our finest and most attractive alpacas, including grey Champion, Sweet Pines Maserati. She is being offered as a pet/fiber animal only.

Royale is a friendly retired mama with a lot of personality. She produces a very fine fleece year after year. Her progeny includes herdsire Sweet Pines Mustang and the beautiful Sweet Pines Infiniti. She is being offered here as a fiber/companion animal only.

Sweet Pines Matadora has been a foundation female for us, producing excellent quality offspring. Her elite Peruvian genetics have been extremely valuable in our herd. She produces a bright and beautiful fleece with impressive stats. Production-wise her EPDs show 6 categories in the top 25%, including top 10% in AFD and top 5% in length! This girl has potential to add value to any herd. Matadora's female cria out of Sweet Pines Mustang is looking to be quite spectacular as well. Matadora's dam, Sweet Pines Springs, was one of our original foundation females years ago. She produced an exceptionally long, bright, and fine fleece with beautiful crimp/character and passed all those characteristics onto her offspring. We especially valued her as a mother, producing healthy cria that needed no assistance at birth, bouncing up, often running, within minutes. Matadora's sire, NPA Peruvian San Simeon Suave, is a Rico Suave son and has done quite well as a herdsire. The fineness passed on in these lines is exceptional. We were blessed to get these genetics into our herd. Matadora's 2025 daughter is out of fawn herdsire Sweet Pines Mustang. She is beautifully put together and growing nicely. Mustang is throwing offspring with show quality fleeces, solid conformation, head to toe fiber coverage, and a pleasant personality.

Sweet Pines Zeta is a nice young maiden with a lovely, dense, bright white fleece. Her conformation is solid as are her genetics. We love her look and adore her sweet personality. She comes from lines known not just for that incredibly soft fleece but also a gentle and respectful demeanor. Zeta's sire is our own Sweet Pines Mustang. Mustang's all-over fiber coverage is unmatched on our farm. He has that appealing teddy bear look that all the visitors love. Mustang is an award-winner for his high-volume, beautifully crimped and bundling fleece. He produces offspring with those same characteristics and his wonderful appearance. We can count on him to add density and across blanket uniformity to a pairing. Zeta's dam is our lovely Sweet Pines Siata. Her fleece's ultra fineness, excellent length, and staple uniformity is perfect for that next-to-skin garment. Zeta is currently bred our daughter's award-winning herdsire, Infinitos Desoto. She certainly has the potential to throw a wide range of colors given her lineage. She descends from dams who have had plenty of milk and are very attentive with their crias. We expect Zeta will do the same!

Sweet Pines Yeti has inherited her sire's full coverage with a high volume of fiber, wonderful staple length, and a gorgeous well-structured fleece. Her packed genetics shine through with impeccable conformation as well. Yeti's sire is Sweet Pines Mustang. Mustang holds genetics from both Crescent Moon and Snowmass lines, contributing to his robust fleece and solid conformation, not to mention that teddy bear look. He has a great personality as well! He is adding density and across blanket uniformity to a pairing. We are very pleased with his offspring. Yeti's dam, Sweet Pines Quantum, has a beautifully fine and uniform brown sable-like fleece. She is easy to handle but will step up as the protector of the herd, especially with a cria by her side! She is a wonderful mother with plenty of milk. Quantum's lineage also comes from Crescent Moon and Snowmass breeding programs, including champions in grey and black. Quantum's fleece has won top awards in national shows. Both sides carry color, density, well-defined crimp, and fineness, not to mention top award-winners. We were smitten with her on shearing day when we noticed crimp all the way down her leg and her exceptional neck fleece. Yeti has a lot to offer. Yeti is now bred to Infinitos Desoto for a 2027 cria.

This sweet girl is friendly and beautifully put together with a bright, crimpy, soft fleece. Aurora is white with a fawn spot on her elbow just like her dam. Perfect conformation, a lovely head, really an all-around solid female. Sweet Pines Aurora's sire is Sweet Pines Mustang. Mustang throws an irresistible teddy-bear look. He carries a high volume of fleece with gorgeous crimp structure, bundling, and across blanket uniformity. He has maintained fineness into adulthood as well. We love what he is producing for us. Aurora's dam is Sweet Pines Matadora, who replaced her dam as one of our foundation females. Matadora's incredibly bright fleece is a favorite amongst handspinners. We can count on her to be a great mama as well, producing healthy, quality offspring with a nice personality. Aurora will be ready to breed in summer of 2027.

For one reason or another, we have decided not to designate these boys as breeders, but they all have highly useable, wonderful fiber (some extremely soft), fantastic for handspinners and fiber artists. Some have placed in competitive shows as high as 1st place. Colors include white, fawn, brown, rose grey, and black. They are halter trained and handled, great for a unique and rewarding 4-H project. Some of our boys have the personality and assertiveness for guarding smaller livestock (such as chickens or goats). Most of our non-herdsires are already gelded, but a few are still in tact. If they are used as breeders, there will be an extra charge for the ARI certificate. Our boys will only be sold to farms with other alpacas or in groups of 2-3 due to their social nature. We highly enjoy our boys - they are entertaining, fun to work with, and have provided us with high quality fiber (and a lot of it!).

Piper is a sweet and goofy alpaca with a cute little white spot on his chin. He produces a long, silky fleece every year. His low percentage of guard hair makes his fleece a delight to process.

Consistent with his genetics, Romeo is producing a nice long, voluminous fleece every year. He is one of the sweetest alpacas on the ranch.

As a fiber boy, Spyker is a prize. He has won some impressive awards with his very uniform and fine fleece. He is smaller in size with a very appealing overall look.

Flare has gotten up there in age and is no longer being offered for stud service. He is listed for reference only. Flare is throwing his straight, attractive conformation and those awesome genetics are shining through! Flare's first son, Flare's Incan Nightfire, is an extremely fine champion grey and now has award-winning offspring of his own on the ground. We have found some of the finest and most revered color genetics in the industry. SNOWMASS XXXTREME FLARE was the premier purchase for the International Alpaca Odyssey auction and we are so excited to get him into our breeding program. Torino is a National Champion, winning 1st & Brown COLOR CHAMPION with his fleece at the 2011 AOBA NATIONALS and also at 2012 GWAS. He has also won 3 RESERVE CHAMPIONSHIPS, 2 of them for halter and one for fleece at the Level IV AFCNA Continental Fleece Show with 19 out of 20 for fineness and handle. Judge Wade Gease commented: "Exceptional fineness with hand, crimp, and density. What more could you ask for?" Likewise, at the 2010 International Alpaca Odyssey, Judge Ruth Elvestad commented on his finenesss and conformational correctness, placing him as Dark Reserve Champion. While at the IAO, we took advantage of the tremendous opportunity to have international judge Dr. Julio Sumar evaluate Torino. To our delight, Dr. Sumar scored Torino very high, giving him full points in many different categories. Our thoughts on this boy have been confirmed in a big way! There isn't just one thing we love about Torino - we love everything. His comformation is compact, square, straight, and strong. His head is perfect. His fleece is exquisite - DENSE, CRIMPY throughout, UNIFORM, fantastic handle, and amazing length! Torino is the best alpaca born on our farm. Torino's pedigree is excellent. Sire's side - VICTOR, PLURO, Sir Winston of Melbourne, Mountain Gold. Dam's side - LEGACY, EL MOUSTACHIO, AUGUSTO, Don Julio. His sire, Spanish Peaks Banderas (PERUVIAN VICTOR grandson & Top 1% EPDs) is a multi-champion dark rose grey, producing very dark rose greys (base color bay black) along with solid black, brown, and fawn. Torino's dam has a consistently nice handling medium brown fleece, strong conformation and 4PERUVIAN LEGACY for her grandsire. His granddam is a fawn champion who consistently produces show worthy offspring. Torino is an excellent choice for any breeding program looking to decrease microns & increase uniformity with superior density & character. What more could you ask for?

Sweet Pines Maserati (Mazi) stands out in the herd with his pink (rose grey) color, friendliness, and macho presence. His impressive awards include two blue ribbons (National Fleece Show & NW Showcase) and a championship (NW Showcase). Mazi's stunning fleece has beautiful appeal with a lovely uniform crimp and bundling. He is also holding fineness and length into adulthood. His offspring are proving to be unbelievably crimpy all the way through the topknot with gorgeous conformation. We are quite pleased! Maserati's sire, NPA Peruvian San Simeon Suave, is known for extreme fineness with well-known elite Peruvian genetics (e.g. Don Juan, Caligula, El Nino, Hemingway, etc.) in his background. He and his offspring have some of the most impressive EPDs we've seen, especially in fineness and uniformity. Maserati's dam, Sweet Pines Rally, is one of our favorite daughters out of our herdsire, El Campeon. El Campeon has passed, so Rally is especially prized. Rally has maintained a soft, next-to-skin fleece well into adulthood as well. Her offspring are lovely every time. Mazi is throwing exceptional fineness, brightness, and uniformity.

Nocino's first cria is here and he is a handsome little guy! Much darker than his dam - true black! A fantastic head and quite healthy. His second cria is also darker than her dam with incredible density and such vigor. Daytona's Nocino is a junior herdsire with an "Advanced Fleece". He has won top awards, including black male Color Champion at the 2019 AOA National Fleece Show and Judge's Choice from the AAWO Spin-Off. Nocino produces truly amazing fleeces each year (over 6 lbs of blanket!). The density with across blanket uniformity is above and beyond. Nocino's sire, multi-champion Crescent Moon's Daytona, consistently produced a high percentage of black offspring along with other beautiful colors like maroon and grey. He passed his incredible density and uniformity to offspring along with a well-balanced conformation. Plus he and his offspring are holding their fineness year after year. Nocino's dam, AHarmony's Juliaetta, is a top ribbon winner with her fleece as well, with a fineness of 19.2 microns at 4 years of age and only 1.4% over 30. She has wonderful bone substance and a stunningly beautiful head. Her genetics hold depth in fineness (Rico Suave and Victor), and strong color including black and grey. She is producing truly advanced offspring.

Sweet Pines Mustang has wowed us from the start. Just the amount of fiber he produces with all that coverage and density is unbelievable. Top that with fantastic across blanket uniformity, fineness, a tight crimp, nice bundling, and beautiful brightness. We also love his amazing look and well-balanced conformation, giving him the full package. When he was a weanling, Mustang broke his hind leg, so we were never able to see what he could do in a halter show. But his progeny carry much promise in this regard and many of his siblings have gone on to be champions! Mustang's sire, Crescent Moon's Accoyo Augustine, is one of those head turners who did fantastic in the show ring for Crescent Moon Alpacas with an amazing 13 championships! His Accoyo lineage is quite apparent and clearly passed on to Mustang. Mustang's dam, Sweet Pines Royale, is an exceptional alpaca as well with wonderful Snowmass bloodlines. Royale has maintained her royal fineness year after year well into adulthood. She stands out with her model-like conformation and easy-going confident personality. We count on her to help us train future generations and reassure others in the herd with her leadership. She has been a gem for us. Mustang now has offspring and is proving to throw a variety of colors. One of his sons from 2022 is a very shiny stunning true black out of a dark brown dam. We absolutely love the fleece quality he is throwing, along with his excellent temperament.

Milano's Innocenti (AKA Jack) is our go-to for staple length. His EPD rank in length is 0.1%! He also holds fineness and uniformity along with a nice amount of fleece volume. This has made him especially valuable to our fiber production lines as he produces a wonderfully useable fleece year after year. Jack's sire, Alpaca Adventure's Milano, did exceptionally well in the show ring, winning Get of Sire over much bigger ranches. His abundance of fleece, 'look at me' presence, and flawless conformation really spoke to the judges. We have been blessed with a few of his offspring and love the results. Jack's dam, Sweet Pines Truly Elite (Ellie), also did well in the show ring, and has been producing stellar offspring throughout the years. Her EPDs are the best we've ever seen - top 1% in 3 categories! Her fleece is one of the finest every year. Jack has won several awards with his fleece including Judge's Choice in a competitive spin-off.
