Makella
In the fall of 2003, Makella won a first place ribbon at the ABR Fall Festival. It was a shorn halter class and she was the only one. The judges were very gracious, stating that they did not have to award a first place ribbon, but that she was of superior quality & deserved it. This being our first show, we were absolutely thrilled to have a blue ribbon, even though all this told us was that she has good conformation. So we were a bit nervous when we entered her into the Great Western Alpaca Show 2004 in Denver, a much bigger and more competitive show. To our delight, she held her own against several others & brought home another blue ribbon. That fall at the ABR Fall Festival 2004, her fleece won first again. And in April of 2007, her adult fleece (at 3.5 years old) won not only first, but also Reserve Color Champion at the Northwest Alpaca Showcase Fleece Show. So what's so special about her? Makella has a tight, consistent, crimp with uniformity in color & fineness. When handling her fleece, the softness and length are more typical of a much younger alpaca. Makella proven to throw her gorgeous fleece in rich dark colors. 2007 - Northwest Alpaca Showcase - fleece - 1st place & Reserve Color Champion 2006 - PNW Fiber Odyssey - fleece - fourth place (against many Snowmass fleeces) 2004 - ABR Fall Festival - fleece - 1st place Great Western Alpaca Show - halter - 1st place 2003- ABR Fall Festival - shorn halter - 1st place |
